Why “Alfa” and “Juliett”?
ICAO spells them so every speaker says them the same way: “Alpha” is “Alfa” for those who would not say a ph as an f, and the double t keeps the French from saying “Juliette”. Either spelling is fine when you answer here.
Tree, Fife and Niner
On the radio, three, five and nine are said “Tree”, “Fife” and “Niner” so they cannot be mistaken for each other (or for the German “nein”). Switch above to hear either way; both are accepted.
Say it, then spell it
A radio operator says the word, then “I spell”, then the code words, evenly, with a short pause between each. Turn on the procedure words in settings to hear it framed that way.
